Behavioral Health Sr. Account Executive
About The Position
Sage Elevate is transforming care for individuals living with mental health and substance use disorders by specializing in personalized medication therapy for behavioral health conditions. Building on the legacy of its sister company, Sage Infusion, Sage Elevate is committed to expanding access to high-quality behavioral health care across Florida, with an approach centered on the individual patient. As a Senior Strategic Account Executive, the role involves generating new referral sources, building trusted provider relationships, and driving patient growth within an assigned territory. This position acts as a key liaison between Sage Elevate and behavioral health providers, utilizing consultative sales skills and healthcare knowledge to promote mental health and addiction-focused therapies. The role requires a strong understanding of the psychiatric and behavioral health landscape, including experience engaging with various specialists and programs such as psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, addiction specialists, PHP, IOP, detox centers, and community mental health organizations. The ideal candidate is a "hunter" with a proven history of opening new accounts, activating new sites, and establishing long-term referral partnerships in the behavioral health sector.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent healthcare experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of sales experience, preferably in behavioral health, psychiatry, addiction treatment, specialty pharmacy, or related healthcare industries
- Proven track record of opening new accounts and activating new referral sites
- Existing experience working with or calling on psychiatrists, psychiatric NPs, behavioral health groups, addiction treatment centers, or community mental health programs strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of behavioral health diagnoses including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, alcohol use disorder, and opioid dependence
- Working knowledge of psychiatric treatment models including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), long-acting injectables (LAIs), PHP/IOP workflows, and addiction recovery pathways
- Understanding of the healthcare industry, provider landscape, referral dynamics, and payer environment
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and growth targets
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills
- Proficiency in CRM software (HubSpot and Sales Rabbit preferred), Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel throughout assigned territory; valid driver’s license required
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
Nice To Haves
- Experience with behavioral health therapies such as Spravato, Vivitrol, Invega, Abilify, Aristada, or Brixadi
- Established network within Florida’s psychiatric or behavioral health community
- Familiarity with payer pathways, prior authorizations, and specialty medication access in behavioral health.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic territory plan to achieve or exceed sales, referral, and patient growth targets
- Identify and cultivate relationships with psychiatrists, psychiatric NPs, addiction medicine providers, therapists, PHPs, IOPs, detox centers, MAT clinics, and behavioral health organizations
- Conduct outbound outreach, schedule and lead meetings, and present Sage Elevate’s value proposition to prospective clients and referral sources
- Educate providers and patients on Sage Elevate’s behavioral health therapies and treatment pathways
- Build referral pipelines for patients with depression, treatment-resistant depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, alcohol use disorder, and opioid dependence
- Open new accounts and activate underperforming or dormant referral sources
- Maintain frequent, value-added communication with new and existing accounts to drive loyalty and referrals
- Address client questions, concerns, and objections with a consultative and solutions-focused approach
- Leverage data to monitor trends, analyze territory performance, and refine market strategy
- Recapture former patients through strategic engagement and relationship-building efforts
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth onboarding and exceptional patient experiences
- Monitor competitors’ activities, services, and market trends to remain informed and agile in the behavioral health space
- Attend educational workshops, psychiatric conferences, and addiction recovery industry events to stay current and build professional networks
- Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and submit timely activity reports and sales updates
