About The Position

The Behavioral Health Services Officer serves as the leading voice for Mental Health and Substance Abuse related services provided by ARMS. The Behavioral Health Services Officer is responsible for the quality and safety of patient care enrolled in the BHSE Program. The Behavioral Health Services Officer serves as the Clinical Director for the ARMS’ Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder services.

Requirements

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling required
Current Alabama Clinical Licensure (LICSW, LPC, or etc.)
Minimum of 5 years post master’s relevant clinical experience
2 or more years of progressive supervisory experience
Excellent attention to detail.
High degree of sophistication of thought and creativity due to the complex nature of human problems.
Excellent human relations, communication, advocacy, and mental health intervention skills.
Superior time and task management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use sound judgment and competence in managing critical incidents and communications with others.
Basic computer skills (word processing, email, etc.).

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and oversight of the daily operations of the BHSE Program.
Provide leadership and oversight of the daily operations of ARMS’ Wellness Center.
Work with the HR Department to recruit, onboard and the evaluation of assigned staff.
Provide support to the Chief Medical Offer in the supervision of the psychiatrist.
Direct supervision of licensed clinicians and other clinical staff assigned to the BHSE program.
Conducts regularly scheduled huddles to communicate policies and procedures, develop problem-solving techniques, acquire team-building skills and seek input regarding patient care.
Maintain accurate written protocols for provider duties; regularly reviews and revises protocols as needed.
Monitors clinical programs of treatment and referrals.
Oversee and ensure organizational compliance with the state certification.
Manage patient case load and provide MH and SUD Counseling.
Collaborates as needed with members of ARMS’ leadership team on mental health and substance use disorder issues, challenges and opportunities.
Review assigned staff patient documentation and monthly reporting to ensure completeness, accuracy and follow-up.
Responsible for monthly clinical reviews of a sampling of patient charts.
Comply with the PCMH mode of excellences.
Ensure that all healthcare regulations, state guidelines and federal laws are adhered to.
Ensures quality patient care and productive clinical flow.
Work closely with the Compliance office to ensure on-going compliance is practiced, and completion of required reports needed for submission to ARMS’ Board of Directors and HRSA.
Play a leading role in grants prospecting, writing and submission of grant proposals.
Serve as a member of and attend Extended Leadership Meetings
Conducts one-on-one supervision sessions with direct reports.
Attend one-on-one supervision with supervisor
Conducts departmental meetings
Attend organizational-wide town hall meetings
Attend and participate in community meetings, conferences, trainings, and workshops as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.
