About The Position

Greater Philadelphia Health Action (GPHA) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) committed to providing compassionate and affordable medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare services, regardless of an individual's ability to pay. We are currently seeking full-time Medical Assistants for our Behavioral Healthcare Division. These positions are available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, across multiple locations in Philadelphia and Springfield, PA.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA)
  • High School Diploma (or GED)
  • CPR certification
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to engage individuals sympathetically and proficiently.
  • Proven capability to collaborate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
  • NetSmart experience
  • Proficiency in a second language

Responsibilities

  • Preparing patients for office visits and assisting psychiatrists with baseline UDS data for psychiatric evaluations.
  • Triaging patients, including taking vital signs, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Preparing specimens for laboratory pick-up.
  • Safely administering and documenting injections.
  • Maintaining required logs.
  • Performing specific procedures and diagnostic testing ordered by the provider.
  • Performing EKG, breathalyzer, and point-of-care testing.
  • Processing all clinical forms as necessary.
  • Performing Lab Quality Control procedures accurately.
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly lab station and clinical environment.
  • Operating the paging/telephone system as assigned.
  • Greeting patients, visitors, guests, and sales representatives professionally and cordially, and providing direction/information.
  • Attending all mandatory staff development/training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Entering and updating patient's demographic information accurately and timely.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
