Behavioral Health Counselor

About The Position
The Behavioral Health Counselor monitors services and provides community support and therapeutic services. The counselor applies a basic knowledge of diagnostic characteristics, symptoms of primary mental illness, and medication effects and benefits to provide person-centered support in a community-based environment. The LPC receives periodic supervision.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification.
- For new graduates: supervised postgraduate counseling experience (internship) with specified direct client contact under the supervision of a board-approved supervisor; otherwise, one year of experience.
Responsibilities
- Monitor services.
- Provide community support services.
- Provide therapeutic services.
- Use knowledge of mental illness symptoms and medication effects and benefits to provide person-centered, supportive, community-based services.
