About The Position

UPMC Chautauqua is hiring a full-time Behavioral Health Counselor for its Inpatient Mental Health Department. The counselor provides clinical treatment services to patients in an inpatient setting. The title and salary will be determined based on education and experience. The position is day shift, with weekends and holidays off.

Requirements

Master's degree in Psychology, Child Development, Applied Behavior Analysis, Early Intervention, Education, Special Education, Instruction in Learning, Social Work, or a related field.
CCM training is required within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter.
NY Mandated Reporter training is required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
Required clearances include the NYS Staff Exclusion List (NYSEL) and NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse (NYSCR).

Nice To Haves

One year of clinical experience is preferred.
Knowledge of behavior principles, evaluation and assessment processes, and application of the current version of the DSM is preferred.
Preferred licensure or certification: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).

Responsibilities

Demonstrate knowledge of behavior support techniques and skills to help develop individualized behavior plans.
Assist with care coordination for clients and families and facilitate referrals to other clinical services during treatment and at discharge.
Use structured clinical assessment tools, including measures of psychiatric symptomatology, family functioning, and academic achievement, and communicate results and recommended treatment to families and other professionals.
Complete department paperwork and documentation according to established policies and participate in interagency team meetings.
Participate in, coordinate, and serve as a liaison with other services.
Help resolve issues related to service delivery.
Provide individual and family therapy in community and/or inpatient or outpatient settings.
Ensure staff implement behavior plans faithfully and effectively.
Provide direct care to assigned patients.
Provide direct clinical supervision to assigned staff through individual, group, and onsite supervision, and conduct treatment team meetings.
Develop expertise in child, adolescent, and adult psychopathology, crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, and behavioral therapy.
Participate in training related to service provision.
Conduct ongoing evaluations of implemented behavior plans and determine whether updates are needed.
