Behavioral Health Counselor I - Adult Crisis Residential Program
About The Position
The Munson Adult Crisis Residential Program is a short-term, 24/7 residential treatment program for adults experiencing a behavioral health crisis, offering a safe, home-like alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Residents receive individualized, trauma-informed care—including clinical support, therapy groups, medication management, crisis planning, and skill-building—to stabilize symptoms, strengthen coping skills, and prepare for a successful transition back to the community. Staff are part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that promotes recovery, resilience, and improved access to behavioral health services across Northern Michigan.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- For outpatient behavioral health – requires either the CADC, CAADC, (Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor or Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor) OR the ability to obtain the credential and meet all requirements within the 3 year time frame.
- BLS required - can be obtained within 60 days of hire
Responsibilities
- Works with patients who experience substance use and / or mental health disorders.
- Supporting patients.
- Coordinating patient care or wider behavioral health initiatives.
- Representing behavioral health throughout the hospital and wider community.
