About The Position

This position is responsible for working 24 hours weekly, 8 hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Behavioral Health Clinician will utilize resources to meet patient care needs by collaborating with appropriate guardians and community agencies. They will assess patients' problems, needs, and level of functioning, and write appropriate treatment plans according to patient diagnosis, age, and clinical presentation. The clinician will provide various treatment modalities and theoretical applications based on current clinical standards, assisting individuals, groups, and families through the therapeutic relationship. They will evaluate and treat mental disorders and other conditions through the use of a combination of psychotherapeutic techniques and human development principles, establishing and conducting appropriate interventions/treatment. The role also involves writing appropriate discharge plans based on individual needs of the client and following through with the termination process, providing patient care according to established policies/procedures and professional standards of care. Additionally, the clinician will design, plan, and implement effective patient education, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care according to identified needs, and manage clients in crisis. Accurate and consistent documentation of patient care/response in the medical record is essential, as is presenting cases in clinical team members meetings in a clear, concise, and clinically relevant manner. All assessments must be completed within facility-established timeframes, and the clinician will coordinate discharge planning and care for the next provider.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant human services field such as Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited school of graduate education required.
  • Dependent on program must be license-eligible and actively seeking appropriate licensure to practice counseling in the state of which one performs work.
  • CPI and BLS HCP certification from AHA required within 90 days of hire if working in an inpatient psychiatric setting, Psychiatric Emergency Department or the Child and Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program.
  • Must have good therapeutic communication skills.
