About The Position

Turning Point Centers is a dually licensed, nationally accredited provider of substance abuse and mental health treatment, serving Salt Lake County and Davis County since 2007. It offers a continuum of care using evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, MI, and EMDR, and emphasizes collaborative, interdisciplinary, patient-centered care.

The Behavioral Health Associate / Psych Tech works at a residential treatment center for adults with substance use and other mental health disorders. Working closely with therapist and medical teams, this role helps maintain a safe, empathetic, trauma-informed environment that supports healing and long-term change. The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive. The position is available full-time or part-time, with swing-shift and weekend hours available, in Sandy or Millcreek, Utah. Pay is $17–$19 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Active, valid driver’s license, with no DUI or serious moving violations within the last three years.
• Must pass a federal background check through the Department of Human Services; violent, sexual, or predatory charges or convictions will result in denial of the background check.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience working in a treatment setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client intakes.
• Maintain healthy boundaries.
• Conduct rounds and document clients’ locations, activities, and moods.
• Facilitate recreational and non-clinical groups.
• Transport clients off site in a 15-passenger van; no CDL is required.
• Supervise and participate in off-site recreational activities.
• Manage medications.
• Perform light housekeeping, including replacing living staples, taking out trash, and laundering linens.
• Write detailed documentation and use online-based client medical records systems.
• Complete verbal hand-offs between shifts.
• Manage emergency situations and de-escalate clients.
• Escalate situations to clinical and medical providers as necessary.
• Conduct room searches, bag searches, and safety inspections.
