About The Position

The Machining Technician role encompasses direct labor positions within the Machining department. Technicians safely, accurately, and efficiently operate CNC machines and other manufacturing equipment to produce high-quality knife components while meeting production, quality, and performance metrics. Work includes machine operation, in-process inspection, routine maintenance, and participation in continuous improvement efforts. Depending on assignment and skill level, technicians may support engineering with process development, troubleshooting, validation, and training fellow operators. The role has four progressive skill-based levels, from entry-level manual and basic machine operations through multi-platform CNC and automation proficiency. The progression offers opportunities to develop toward advanced machine operation, technical engineering support, or leadership and management roles. Tech I performs basic manufacturing and finishing operations; Tech II advances to intermediate tasks and basic CNC platforms; Tech III primarily operates advanced CNC platforms and automated systems; and Tech IV is a value stream expert who supports operators, troubleshooting, setups, validations, process adherence, and production.
