About The Position

This position with APD will serve staff and management across the Agency. This is a responsible professional position which requires a certification by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board that is current and in good standing as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), or Florida Certified Behavior Analyst (FL-CBA). It ensures the health, safety, and welfare of individuals supported by APD. This role involves conducting on-site health and welfare checks, assessments, and investigations in response to allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. It provides technical assistance and case management to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including reviewing incident reports, reaching out to providers, and monitoring behavior-related supports and services.

Requirements

  • At least two year’s experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience reviewing behavioral data, graphs, behavior programs, and providing written reports to address services needed to meet health and safety.
  • Valid Driver’s License or other efficient means of transportation to travel for work purposes.
  • Certification by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board that is current and in good standing as a Board Certificated Behavior Analysis (BCBA), Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), Florida Certified Behavior Analyst (FL-CBA).
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Proficient with Internet use.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s in psychology, or Mental Health Counseling is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supports Division Director in the Region and in consultative fashion with group home providers, behavior analysts contracted with providers and with the Agency, state office senior behavior analyst/designee, and community stakeholders to assure behavior analysis services are implemented in accordance with state rules, regulations, and memos of understanding.
  • Conducts face to face visits with consumers and families to assess Significant Additional Needs (SANS) requests and Crisis Tools.
  • Prepares behavioral summary reports for SANS and crisis tools; makes recommendations for level, amount and frequency of services needed; conducts medical necessity reviews as needed; participates in placement committee meetings.
  • Conducts preliminary reviews of behavior plans and relevant documents for completeness and clinical soundness prior to local Review Committee (LRC) meetings.
  • Assists scheduling LRC behavior plan presentations.
  • Attends the LRC meetings and actively participates in the review process of behavior plans.
  • Attends any other meeting in which the behavioral expertise is required.
  • Records and maintains the minutes of the LRC meetings and distributes electronically to providers.
  • Maintains a data base of behavior plans approved.
  • Compiles monthly documentation of reactive strategies submitted by providers to area office, prepares monthly summary report and submits electronically to Central Office.
  • Designs data bases, checklists, training materials and other related tools to improve the delivery of behavioral services.
  • Conducts literature reviews regarding specific behavior disorders and state of the art treatment to provide technical assistance to providers.
  • Trains providers on the reporting form and provides technical assistance on this matter.
  • Provides training and technical assistance sessions to support coordinators, providers and agency staff regarding regulatory practices, behavioral services and QSI.
  • Conducts preliminary screenings of behavior assessments and assist in providing feedback to behavioral providers.
  • Participates in the determination of eligibility process for intensive behavior and behavior focus residential habilitation and issues related documents on behalf of the region.
  • Maintains the Board Behavior Analysis Certification in good standing.
  • Performs any other related activities as requested by the senior behavioral analyst and in consultation with the Clinical Supports Division Director.
  • Other duties as necessary to support region functions, including but not limited to: Emergency Operations Activities and community crises.
  • Performs other assigned duties as assigned.
