About The Position

This role is for a Behavior Technician (BT) at Burnett Therapeutic Services (BTS) in Sacramento County. The position is part-time, with a schedule from Monday to Sunday, 2-8 pm, requiring afternoon and evening availability. The work setting can be in-home or in-clinic. The compensation ranges from $20–$24/hour, with an increase after obtaining RBT certification. The job is ideal for individuals who love working with children and are interested in a career in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), supporting children in developing communication, problem-solving, and social skills. BTS hires both entry-level candidates and certified Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).

Requirements

  • Must complete a 40-hour RBT training course prior to employment.
  • RBT certification is not required to apply, but the 40-hour training must be completed before your start date.
  • Must obtain RBT certification within 6 months of employment as a condition of continued employment, or maintain an active BCAT or ABAT certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • This job requires reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance.
  • This job requires a CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain during onboarding)
  • This job requires a TB test (within 90 days), MMR & Varicella Immunization, and a Pre-employment Physical (within the past year).
  • This job requires a background check (FBI & DOJ).

Nice To Haves

  • Current student or recent graduate in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Sociology, Biology, or related field.
  • Candidates with an RBT, ABAT, or BCAT certification, or those who have already completed an ABA Paraprofessional training certificate (RBT, BCAT, ABAT) training course and hold a certificate.
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus!
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
  • Reliability and a willingness to work with a variety of clients

Responsibilities

  • Delivering one-on-one behavior support through fun, individualized activities
  • Implementing behavior intervention plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)
  • Collecting and recording data on client progress accurately
  • Communicating regularly with families to provide updates and support
  • Participating in ongoing training, team meetings, and supervision sessions
