About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is seeking a dedicated, caring, and creative part-time Childcare Site Assistant for its Before and After School YMCA Program at Cedarville Elementary. The assistant helps create a safe, fun, nurturing learning environment by providing quality care and educational, age-appropriate activities for children. The role involves connecting with participants, parents, and supervisors; engaging with children; and assisting with lessons and planned activities. The position is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 8:50 a.m., at Cedarville Elementary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Pay is $14.00–$14.50 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age and attending school.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to handle situations quickly, kindly, and fairly.
• Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
• Commitment to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supervising multiple children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide childcare support for the Before and After School YMCA Program.
• Help create a safe, fun, and nurturing learning environment for program participants.
• Connect warmly and effectively with program participants, parents, and supervisors.
• Actively engage with participants and provide quality care.
• Assist in implementing lessons and lead safe activities that engage participants in planned activities.
