About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive part-time childcare worker for its Before and After School YMCA Program at Arlington Elementary. The role supports a safe, fun, and nurturing learning environment where children can learn, grow, and explore through educational and age-appropriate activities. Site Assistants connect with participants, parents, and supervisors; provide quality care; and assist with lessons and planned activities.

The position is located at Arlington Elementary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and is scheduled Monday through Friday from 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pay is $14.00–$14.50 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age and attending school.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.
• Ability to handle situations quickly, kindly, and fairly.
• Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supervising multiple children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help provide educational and age-appropriate activities that promote a safe, fun, and nurturing learning environment.
• Connect warmly and engagingly with program participants, parents, and supervisors.
• Actively engage with participants and provide quality care.
• Assist in implementing lessons and lead safe activities that engage participants in planned activities.
