About The Position

The Childcare Staff executes the Before and After Care Private Program policies and procedures established by Casa Esperanza. This role involves collaborating with other adults in the childcare program and the Childcare Coordinator to plan daily activities, including preparing and implementing activities and projects, and cleaning up afterwards. The staff member will also provide homework assistance to school-age children, monitor student progress and needs, and maintain the appearance of indoor and outdoor facilities used during the program. Additionally, the role requires attending staff meetings, enforcing safety rules, complying with professional dress code and standards, and guiding behavior positively. The position also involves working on early release days, teacher work days, and Intersession childcare days (Spring & Fall), maintaining student confidentiality, and continuously upgrading professional knowledge and skills through observation notes and class notebooks.

Requirements

  • Minimum one-year experience working with Pre-K and/or school age children.
  • Good Children supervisory skills.
  • Consistently interact using respectful language and tone with both children and adults.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor at all times, including redirection or disciplinary matters.
  • Excellent reference from prior employees.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workshop activities and curriculum.
  • High School Degree, NC early childhood Credential Courses or equivalent.
  • Adults (21 years or older).

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish and English Fluency, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other adults in the childcare program.
  • Collaborates with Childcare Coordinator to plan daily activities.
  • Provides written lesson plans for all activities.
  • Participates in continued professional education.
  • Prepares, implements, and cleans up daily activities and projects.
  • Provides school –age homework assistance.
  • Monitors students’ progress and needs.
  • Maintains facility appearance for both indoor and outdoor facilities used during program.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Enforces all general safety rules/ guidelines.
  • Complies with school – wide professional dress code and standards.
  • Guides behavior in a positive manner.
  • Able to work on early release days, teacher work days & Intersession childcare days (Spring & Fall).
  • Maintains the confidentiality of student information.
  • Acts to upgrade own professional knowledge and skills.
  • Takes notes of observations in your class notebook and every day writes an observation of at least 1 or 2 students.
