About The Position

The Beer Den/Wine Clerk builds guest loyalty and maximizes profits by providing personal interactions that foster genuine relationships and deliver a brand-aligned experience. The role involves helping guests select beer and wine, maintaining the Beer Den/Sunmill Wines area, supporting product pricing and selection, training other clerks, conducting tastings and promotions, and following applicable state laws. The clerk also prepares and fills growlers, monitors supplies, and communicates specials to guests.

Requirements

Working understanding of beer and wine.
Familiarity with ALE laws governing the sale and purchase of beer and wine products.
Sales-minded, with effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
Friendly, outgoing personality.
Self-motivated and trustworthy, with the ability to adhere to guidelines.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to read and understand information and directions.
Ability to communicate effectively with the Store Manager, DSD Receiver, and vendors.
Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift 30 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

Educate guests about product attributes and provide recommendations for their needs and preferences.
Display, maintain, and use marketing and brand materials, including signage, prices, and flyers.
Maintain the sanitation and appearance of the Beer Den/Sunmill Wines.
Work with category managers and suppliers on pricing and product selection.
Train other Beer Den/Wine clerks and ensure accurate information is available to hosts who work in the Beer Den/Sunmill Wines.
Conduct tastings in the Beer Den/Sunmill Wines and support in-store demonstrations or promotions as needed.
Follow state laws governing the sampling, sale, and purchase of beer and wine.
Wash and prepare growlers according to established practices.
Fill, seal, and label growlers according to established standards when requested by guests.
Monitor and order growlers, glassware, lids, and other Beer Den and wine supplies.
Announce specials and sale information over the PA system.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
