About The Position

The Beer Den/Wine Clerk grows community by building guest loyalty and maximizing profits through personal interactions that foster genuine relationships and provide a brand-aligned experience. The role educates guests about beer and wine, supports product selection and pricing, maintains the Beer Den/Sunmill Wines area, and helps ensure compliance with applicable state laws. The clerk may conduct tastings and demonstrations, prepare and fill growlers, maintain supplies, and communicate specials to guests.

Requirements

• Working understanding of beer and wine.
• Familiarity with ALE laws governing the sale and purchasing of beer and wine products.
• Sales-minded, with effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Friendly, outgoing personality.
• Self-motivated and trustworthy, with the ability to adhere to all guidelines.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to read and understand information and directions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the Store Manager, DSD Receiver, and vendors.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Educate guests on product attributes and information, and guide them according to their needs and preferences.
• Properly display, maintain, and use marketing and brand materials, including signage, prices, and flyers.
• Maintain the sanitation and appearance of the Beer Den/Sunmill Wines.
• Work with category managers and suppliers to ensure proper pricing and product selection.
• Train other Beer Den/Wine clerks and ensure accurate information is available to all hosts working in the Beer Den/Sunmill Wines.
• Conduct tastings in the Beer Den/Sunmill Wines and support in-store demonstrations or promotions as needed.
• Follow state laws governing the sampling, sale, and purchasing of beer and wine.
• Wash and prepare growlers according to established practices.
• Fill growlers at guests’ request according to established filling, sealing, and labeling standards.
• Monitor and order growlers, glassware, lids, and other Beer Den and wine supplies to maintain inventory.
• Announce specials and sale information over the PA system.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
