About The Position

Wipro is seeking a Battery Thermal Engineer to support thermal modeling for battery cells, packs, and battery management system (BMS) subsystems. The role focuses on advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermal simulations, as well as developing reusable modeling workflows. The posting also includes extensive software testing responsibilities, including test planning, test-case design and execution, automation, defect reporting, test-status reporting, and customer communication.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree and at least 3 years of industry experience.
  • Mechanical Engineering background.
  • Strong expertise in CFD and thermal modeling.
  • Expert-level experience with Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) and Icepak within AEDT; mandatory.
  • Experience with Python or an equivalent scripting language.
  • Valid U.S. work authorization with no export compliance restrictions.
  • 5–8 years of experience is listed in the posting under Experience.
  • Mandatory skill: CAE tools.

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Battery or lithium-ion cell and pack experience.
  • Electronics cooling experience.
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro or electronics layout design.
  • Experience with NX and COMSOL.

Responsibilities

  • Develop models that convert power maps into thermal outputs.
  • Perform advanced thermal and CFD simulations for cells, battery packs, BMS subsystems, and system-level analysis.
  • Develop optimized workflows and reusable thermal simulation templates.
  • Establish thermal modeling best practices.
  • Explore analysis techniques, including topology optimization.
  • Extract Reduced Order Models (ROM) from CFD simulations.
  • Collaborate with CAE vendors on tool and functionality improvements.
  • Understand product test requirements and design test cases.
  • Author test plans based on business requirements and testable requirements.
  • Implement model-based testing and efficient test generation.
  • Ensure test cases are peer reviewed to reduce rework.
  • Work with development teams to identify and capture test cases and ensure version control.
  • Set testing criteria, parameters, and scope, and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Automate appropriate stages of the test lifecycle using tools such as VB macros, scheduling, and GUI automation.
  • Design and execute the automation framework and reporting.
  • Develop and automate software validation tests by setting up test environments, designing test plans, developing test cases and scenarios, and executing them.
  • Ensure defects are reported according to project, program, or account norms, with clear descriptions and reproduction steps.
  • Detect bugs, prepare defect reports, and report test progress.
  • Release test-status dashboards at the end of each test execution cycle and provide feedback on usability and serviceability, tracing results to quality risks and reporting them to stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing status reporting and customer-focused communication about testing and execution.
  • Deliver WSRs, test execution reports, and dashboard updates to the test management repository on time.
