Basketball Instructor/Official
About The Position
i9 Sports Greater Phoenix is hiring energetic, personable, and hardworking Basketball Instructors to help fulfill its goal of “Helping Kids Succeed in Life through Sports.” The league focuses on teaching fundamentals and the game in an enjoyable way while providing a safe, fun environment for participants ages 4–14. The instructor creates and facilitates weekly practice plans and officiates games. The role is needed on Saturdays and/or Sundays during the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer seasons, for up to 4–6 hours depending on seasonal registration numbers. Hours vary by location, and compensation is based on experience. This is a part-time position.
Requirements
- Be reliable, professional, and responsive.
- Be outgoing, friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic.
- Be warm, empathetic, patient, and consistent.
- Have in-depth knowledge of basketball and at least one year of coaching experience.
- Have superior customer service skills.
- Have reliable transportation, a cell phone, and web/email access.
- Pass a background check.
- Be willing to work in Glendale, North Phoenix, North Scottsdale, Tempe, Laveen, Ahwatukee, or Avondale.
Responsibilities
- Assist with setting up and taking down courts at the venue.
- Organize, plan, and run practices and games for a specific team or group of teams and players.
- Communicate weekly with volunteer coaches, participants, and league owners.
- Assist with officiating and coaching games.
- Teach basketball skills and sportsmanship while ensuring participants have a fun program.
- Work with Assistant Coaches on drills.
