About The Position

This is an assistant coaching position for the Boys Varsity Basketball team at Freedom High School. The season runs from November to February. The role involves working cooperatively with the head coach and athletic department to operate a well-structured program, attending staff meetings, carrying out assigned duties, recommending equipment and supplies, and suggesting disciplinary actions for players. The coach will foster a desire to win, good sportsmanship, personal pride, and school/community pride among athletes. Other duties related to the position may be requested by the high school principal and/or athletic director.

Requirements

• Coaching experience or participation in the sport which you are applying for on high school or college levels.
• Completion of CPR and First Aid training or enrollment in current CPR and First Aid training course.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
• Virginia Teaching License candidate or a full-time classified employee for Loudoun County Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with the head athletic coach in order to operate a well structured program.
• Work cooperatively with the athletic department.
• Attend all staff meetings prescribed by the head athletic coach during the season.
• Carry out specific duties designated by the head athletic coach.
• Recommend equipment and supplies needed for the implementation of a sports program.
• Recommend suggested disciplinary actions regarding players violating training rules and procedures.
• Foster among the athletes a desire to win, an attitude of good sportsmanship, personal pride, and pride for their school and community.
• Perform other duties related to the position of assistant athletic coach as requested by the high school principal and/or athletic director.
