About The Position

The EMT is a specially trained bedside caregiver who assists professional nursing staff with routine care and specialized technical skills. The EMT reports unusual incidents or findings and maintains patient safety while caring for a designated group of patients during an assigned time period, in accordance with hospital standards and procedures. The role is full-time, scheduled for 42 hours per week, with a 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. shift at an off-site emergency department.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current EMT Basic certification.
• Valid and current state-issued Class D driver’s license.
• Current BLS certification through an ILCOR-provided course, including a manikin check-off.
• CPI certification required within six months of hire.
• Must be 28 years or older.
• Valid current state-issued driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance, at the employee’s own expense, meeting at least the minimum liability limits required by the state of residence.
• Must pass a driving record check; records must not show, within the past three years, three or more moving violations, two or more accidents, or one major violation.
• Ability to drive a van, operate an electric patient stretcher, and assist in loading and unloading patients.
• Basic computer skills and effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Ability to continuously monitor patients at the central station and remain alert while on duty.
• Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond promptly to changes in cardiac rhythm or oxygen saturation.
• Good physical health and ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift at least 100 pounds, excluding overhead lifting.
• Ability to work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience as an EMT Basic on an ambulance crew.
