About The Position

The Base Skill Mechanic maintains and improves facilities and production equipment at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Stafford Springs, Connecticut facility. The role supports efficient and safe site operations, including maintaining the industrial wastewater treatment system. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The work environment includes a warehouse and exposure to changing temperatures, loud equipment, outdoor weather, heights, and required personal protective equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years in a mechanical role.
Experience in a manufacturing plant environment.
Self-starting approach and initiative to identify and solve problems.
Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to read complex schematics and engineering drawings.
Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial vehicle (PIV) certification.
Ability to wear an air-purifying respirator.
Able to lift 40 pounds without assistance.
Able to stand for the full shift.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on facilities systems and production equipment.
Operate, maintain, and improve the site's industrial wastewater treatment system.
