The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on production equipment at the Savage Plant. The role diagnoses electrical and mechanical issues, installs new systems and equipment, replaces defective parts, and helps ensure equipment operates efficiently with limited downtime. The position supports product quality, employee safety, food safety, regulatory compliance, the production schedule, and customer service. Areas of responsibility include production lines, prep areas, dry and finished goods storage, chillers, kitchen ventilation, fire and safety systems, buildings and grounds, CIP, and bulk chemicals. The mechanic works with little supervision, though work is reviewed, and exercises discretion within assigned responsibilities. The position recommends actions and alternatives to a supervisor and others, maintains communication with operations, and coordinates maintenance work with affected personnel. It has little to no customer contact and may indirectly contribute to moderate revenue generation. Decisions may moderately affect other departments or external relationships; errors may be detected after the fact and cause moderate work interruptions or delays. Work takes place in a manufacturing setting, with some exposure to heat, cold, dust, and other minor inconveniences, as well as hazards that might cause minor injury. The job involves extensive walking and standing, occasional physical exertion and lifting up to 50 pounds, and work at heights using appropriate training and PPE. Less than 5% travel to other sites by airplane is required. The employee must be willing to work all shifts, weekends, and some holidays; weekends or overtime may be required as needed.
