About The Position

The Base Skill Mechanic works at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Stafford Springs, Connecticut facility, maintaining and improving facilities and production equipment to support safe, efficient operations. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical systems, performing preventative maintenance, and operating, maintaining, and improving the site's industrial wastewater treatment system. The schedule is third shift, 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of experience in a mechanical role.
Experience in a manufacturing plant environment.
Self-starting approach and initiative to identify and solve problems.
Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to read complex schematics and engineering drawings.
Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial vehicle (PIV) certification.
Ability to wear an air-purifying respirator.
Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
Ability to stand for a full shift.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on facilities systems and production equipment.
Operate, maintain, and improve the site's industrial wastewater treatment system.
