About The Position

The BASC Graduate Assistant supports the daily operations and student success initiatives of the Badgett Academic Support Center (BASC). The Graduate Assistant works directly with students to provide academic support, connect students with campus resources, assist with student outreach and programming, and contribute to a welcoming and supportive environment within the BASC. This position serves as a front-line resource for students and may provide individual or small-group tutoring, academic skill development, and other direct student support based on student needs and the Graduate Assistant's areas of academic competency. The Graduate Assistant works collaboratively with BASC professional staff, faculty, and other campus departments to support student persistence, academic success, and overall student development. Position will include days, evenings, and/or weekends as-needed by the Director.

Requirements

• Enrollment and good standing in an approved graduate program at Campbellsville University.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students from a variety of academic backgrounds and levels of preparation.
• Ability and willingness to provide tutoring or academic assistance within appropriate areas of competency.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality when working with student information.
• Comfortable learning and utilizing university technology, student information systems, communication platforms, and other academic support tools.
• Dependable, adaptable, and able to respond appropriately to changing student and departmental needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students who visit or are referred to the BASC. Help students identify needs, navigate available resources, and connect with appropriate university offices, faculty, or staff.
• Provide individual or small-group tutoring to students as needed in subject areas appropriate to the Graduate Assistant's academic background, experience, and demonstrated competency. Assist students with course content, study strategies, organization, time management, test preparation, and other academic success skills.
• Meet with students to help develop practical strategies for academic success, including goal setting, study planning, organization, accountability, and navigating academic challenges.
• Assist with outreach to students through email, phone, text, or other approved communication methods. Follow up with students referred to the BASC or identified as potentially benefiting from additional academic support.
• Assist with the development, coordination, and facilitation of workshops, presentations, study sessions, academic success initiatives, and other BASC programming.
• Assist with the daily operations of the BASC, including welcoming students, answering questions, monitoring student spaces, maintaining resources, and helping ensure the center remains an accessible and productive environment.
• Assist in creating and maintaining academic resources, handouts, guides, presentations, and other materials related to tutoring, study skills, time management, academic planning, and student success.
• Work collaboratively with BASC staff, faculty, academic advisors, student services, and other campus partners to connect students with appropriate resources and support.
• Maintain appropriate records of student contacts, tutoring sessions, outreach, and other assigned activities. Assist with tracking participation and outcomes as requested.
• Assist with BASC events, orientation activities, student engagement initiatives, testing or academic support events, and other university programs as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle student educational records and other sensitive information.
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, flexibility, and a student-centered approach in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
• Occasional evening, weekend, or special-event responsibilities may be required.
