About The Position

The Bartender at Courtside Grill, located at The Westin Memphis Beale Street Hotel, prepares standard and custom mixed drinks and pours wine and beer. The role provides friendly, attentive, and timely service to create an exceptional guest experience. The position is part-time, generally scheduled from 3 p.m. to midnight; new-hire training and setup take place during daytime hours.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a valid TABC Certification to serve alcohol or qualify to obtain one.
Must be able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
Must be able to stand for extended periods, up to five hours.
Must be able to safely lift and maneuver trays of food frequently weighing 20 to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Maintain a guest-focused approach while performing duties.
Check customer identification and ensure customers meet age requirements for purchasing alcohol.
Take full responsibility for the quality of the guest experience.
Take orders from guests and beverage orders from servers.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standard drink recipes and customers’ specific orders.
Record drink orders accurately and promptly in the register system.
Accept guest payments, process credit card charges, and make change when applicable.
Wash and sterilize glassware.
Prepare drink garnishes.
Arrange bottles and glasses attractively and functionally to support efficient drink preparation and beverage promotion.
Clear and reset tables in the bar area.
Present menus, make recommendations, and answer questions about beverages.
Maintain cleanliness throughout the bar, including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas.
Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar.
Report equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the bar supervisor.
Assist with restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies.
Thank guests for visiting and invite them to return.
Attend scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
