About The Position

The Westin Tempe is seeking a part-time SkySill Lounge Bartender to serve food and beverages to guests around the rooftop pool and cabanas. The bartender is expected to provide friendly, courteous, timely, and professional service that supports a high level of guest satisfaction. The role includes answering menu questions, preparing drinks for servers, providing hospitality, and handling lounge cashier duties. Shifts may be in the morning or evening, and availability is required for weekends and holidays. The position requires an outgoing, service-oriented person who can work outdoors and maintain professional standards in appearance, communication, attendance, and work habits. The bartender must be able to work in confined spaces for extended periods and perform the physical tasks involved in preparing and serving food and beverages. The role also includes following hotel safety and security procedures, cooperating with coworkers, adapting to changes, and taking on other job-related duties assigned by a supervisor. Requirements

Ability to communicate in English.
Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
Ability to communicate well with guests and maintain a professional appearance and manner.
Willingness to assist coworkers and work as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
Basic mathematical skills for cash register operation, making change, totaling checks, counting the bank, preparing cash drops, totaling charges, and understanding portion sizes.
Manual dexterity to use a knife for garnishes, handle glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
Sufficient strength to lift, load, and transport products weighing up to 50 pounds from storage to the bar.
Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
Ability to operate a keyboard and use point-of-sale procedures to pre-check orders and close checks.
Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
Availability for morning and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Serve beverages and food to guests around the rooftop pool and cabanas.
Answer guests’ questions about menu items and promote the variety of menu items.
Prepare drinks for servers and maintain a high level of hospitality.
Handle cashier duties for the lounge, including operating a cash register and point-of-sale procedures, totaling checks, making change, and preparing cash drops.
Maintain professional appearance and manner and interact courteously and respectfully with guests and associates.
Pitch in and assist coworkers with their job duties as needed.
Follow hotel safety and security policies and procedures, including key controls, safe lifting, chemical use, and reporting hazards or concerns.
Adapt to changes in the work area and hotel procedures, learn or improve skills, and seek help when unsure how to perform a task.
Perform other job-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
