About The Position

Carver Road Hospitality is seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Bartender to join its New York City portfolio, including Carversteak, Rosevale Cocktail Room, and Starchild Rooftop at the Civilian Hotel. The role contributes to a storytelling-driven hospitality experience through cocktail craft, attentive guest interaction, and attention to detail. Bartenders work alongside chefs, beverage leaders, and hospitality teams in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. The Bartender executes a high-level craft cocktail program with precision, consistency, and speed while providing engaging, personalized service. The role includes guiding guest preferences, describing ingredients and techniques, preparing and maintaining fresh and perishable products, and contributing to seasonal cocktail development. Bartenders also maintain bar operations and standards, communicate with front- and back-of-house teams, and participate in ongoing training and team development.

Requirements

  • Flexible schedule that includes brunch, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain standards for fresh citrus, juices, syrups, shrubs, and batched cocktails, including proper labeling, dating, and storage.
  • Prepare or oversee daily mise en place, including pressing fresh juice, preparing garnishes, batching, and organizing stations.
  • Prepare cocktails to specification using jiggers and appropriate dilution, temperature control, and techniques such as stirring, shaking, and throwing.
  • Monitor ingredient quality and promptly address oxidation, spoilage, or inconsistencies.
  • Contribute to seasonal menu development, research and development, and ongoing improvement of cocktails and preparation processes.
  • Deliver elevated, detail-driven service by anticipating guest needs and creating a personalized guest experience.
  • Engage guests through knowledge and storytelling about spirits, vermouths, amari, ingredients, and techniques.
  • Recommend spirit-forward, low-ABV, zero-proof, and food-pairing options based on guest preferences.
  • Monitor service pacing and flow to support seamless service at the bar and in the lounge.
  • Keep stations clean, organized, efficient, and fully stocked.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures, including attention to preparation levels, pars, and next-day readiness.
  • Accurately enter orders in the POS, handle cash, and complete end-of-shift financials.
  • Communicate with front- and back-of-house teams to support timely, accurate service and guest satisfaction.
  • Follow Department of Health standards, with particular attention to handling fresh and perishable products.
  • Participate in ongoing education, including tastings, product training, and technique refinement.
  • Share knowledge and support team development to elevate overall bar performance.
  • Maintain a disciplined, professional presence during high-volume service.
