About The Position

This position is located at Fort Bliss Centennial Banquet and Conference Center. The Bartender Leader serves as a working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing bartender work, providing leadership, guidance, and training to subordinate bartenders. Work is performed without close supervision, and the incumbent is responsible for the overall operation of the bar. This role involves implementing industry best practices, developing a standardized training program, and teaching standard procedures for full-service bars, including mixing and serving a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The position also involves communicating with outside vendors and distributors, ensuring bar areas are clean and tidy, implementing opening and closing procedures, keeping records of beverage quantities, submitting restocking requirements, and ensuring accurate counts and proper utilization of items to minimize waste. Additionally, the Bartender Leader must recognize and address intoxicated or unruly patrons, using tact and courtesy to deny further sales when necessary.

Requirements

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination.
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Must be able to work from 3:00pm to 10:00pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
  • Also, available other nights and weekends as required by event schedule.
  • A Physical and a health assessment are required.
  • Candidates must meet state/local age requirements for the serving of alcoholic beverages at the time of appointment.
  • Be able to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds.
  • Possess math skills necessary to calculate bills and take inventory.
  • Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages is required.
  • Must have the ability to monitor and direct the work of other bar staff.
  • Work experience as a full service bartender.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing bartender work.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and training to subordinate bartenders.
  • Responsible for overall operation of the bar.
  • Implements industry best practices and develops a standardized training program for subordinate bartenders.
  • Follows and teaches standard procedures of full service bars, mixing and serving the full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Recommends to management changes to bar procedures, drink lists, and liquor selections.
  • Communicates well with outside vendors and distributors.
  • Ensures bar areas are clean and tidy, and implements opening and closing procedures.
  • Keeps records of quantities of beverages dispensed and submits requirement for re-stocking to supervisor.
  • Ensures accurate count of all beverages and ensures items are utilized properly without waste.
  • Recognizes intoxicated and unruly patrons and takes necessary remedial action.
  • Uses tack and courtesy to deny further sales to persons whose conduct has become unruly or who appear to be intoxicated.
