Barn Manager/Rider - Ocala
About The Position
Seeking an experienced Barn Manager/Rider for a small private hunter/jumper program based in Ocala, Florida. The program consists of approximately four horses and a full-time groom who assists with daily horse care. The role leads the riding and competition side of the program and works closely with the groom. The candidate should be a skilled, independent rider with strong horsemanship, organizational skills, and prior horse show experience. The position is full-time, 5–6 days per week, with work up to 7 days during show weeks and approximately two weeks of horse showing per month. Competitive weekly compensation is based on experience. Housing is not provided.
Requirements
- Professional riding and horse show experience.
- Strong horsemanship and the ability to ride independently.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Comfort driving a truck and trailer and transporting horses to and from competitions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience hauling horses.
- Opportunity may be available to compete in the hunter divisions.
Responsibilities
- Ride, school, and condition horses.
- Oversee daily horse management.
- Coordinate veterinary and farrier care.
- Manage competition preparation and schedules.
- Lead horse show operations, including schooling, warm-ups, coordination with trainers, and show setup and breakdown.
- Transport horses to and from competitions using a truck and trailer.
