About The Position

Harborview Nutrition Services is hiring a part-time Barista to independently operate a remote food service area or espresso bar. The role involves routine preparation and service of espresso beverages and food items, along with cleaning and stocking activities. The department supports UWMC’s mission by providing compassionate, evidence-based care, customer service, and fresh, nutritious food for patients, families, and the community.

The position is scheduled Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. It is a regular position at 60% FTE and is represented by WFSE HMC. The stated pay range is $21.70 to $24.97 per hour.

Requirements

• Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.
• One year of experience preparing and serving food and beverages.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where legal requirements, such as a license, certification, or registration, apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent, respectful customer service to a diverse customer base in a medical setting.
• Train new or unskilled employees in preparing and serving espresso beverages and food items, cleaning and stocking duties, and departmental procedures.
• Operate espresso and food service equipment and machinery.
• Prepare and serve food items and espresso beverages.
• Stock supplies needed to prepare and serve beverages and food items.
• Display food and espresso items attractively.
• Operate the cash register.
• Handle cash, check, and charge payments in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform cleaning activities.
