About The Position

The Barista prepares and sells coffee drinks by following recipes and preparation techniques, while attracting new customers and generating revenue. The role involves helping customers choose drinks and coffee products, explaining coffee beans and brewing equipment, maintaining inventory and equipment, and ensuring a safe, sanitary, and appealing coffee bar. The position is full time and pays $23.58 per hour.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in the coffee service industry.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers and team members.
Superior customer service skills, including the ability to manage difficult customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs and requests.
Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Ability to stand for an entire shift and move throughout the Casino/Hotel areas.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours.
Ability to work in casino-related environmental conditions, including secondhand smoke, excessive noise, and the stress of serving customers in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform repetitive finger and wrist motions, including keyboard data entry, and prolonged viewing of data on a computer monitor.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers and determine their coffee interests and needs.
Present and explain the coffee drink menu and answer customer questions.
Explain differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation equipment, and demonstrate how brewing equipment operates.
Prepare and sell coffee drinks according to prescribed recipes and preparation techniques, including espresso, espresso lungo, café latte, and cappuccino.
Attract new customers and identify new or expanded services and products to generate revenue.
Maintain inventory by replenishing coffee beans, stocking brewing equipment, and maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for the coffee bar.
Keep equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
Follow organizational standards and sanitation regulations to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Improve quality and store and coffee bar appearance by studying and redesigning processes and implementing changes.
Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, industry publications, and professional networks.
Accept ownership of requests and explore opportunities to enhance the coffee shop’s reputation and add value.
