About The Position

Blank Street is hiring Baristas for its founding Los Angeles team. Baristas help set the tone for the customer experience by providing welcoming hospitality, preparing drinks from a focused menu, and maintaining high standards for quality and detail. The role offers an opportunity to help shape Blank Street’s presence in Los Angeles and may provide early access to growth opportunities as the company expands. Baristas work closely with a team to serve coffee and matcha, keep the café clean and organized, and support company procedures and promotions. The position requires customer service experience, availability that meets café needs, and the ability to stand for long periods and lift more than 25 pounds. Part-time schedules are 15–25 hours across three days per week; full-time schedules are 30–40 hours across four to five days per week. Both schedules require availability for two peak days: Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Weekend and holiday availability is preferred.

Requirements

At least 1 year of customer service experience, preferably in hospitality or coffee.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Able to lift more than 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
Availability that meets the needs of the cafes.
For part-time work: availability for 15–25 hours per week across 3 days, including 2 peak days.
For full-time work: availability for 30–40 hours per week across 4–5 days, including 2 peak days.
Weekend and holiday availability preferred.
Friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about hospitality.
Adaptable and open-minded as the company evolves.
Attentive to detail and takes pride in getting things right.
Acts with ownership to keep shifts running smoothly and efficiently.
Passionate about coffee and/or matcha and able to share that enthusiasm with customers.
Comfortable working on a diverse team and bringing different personalities together.

Responsibilities

Provide consistent, welcoming, and engaging hospitality to customers, with the aim of turning customers into regulars.
Work as part of the team using company equipment, coffee, and matcha.
Maintain a clean and organized environment in accordance with local health department and Blank Street standards.
Partner with Operations and Marketing teams on events and promotions.
Train and develop with the company, helping improve standards and processes.
Learn and follow company procedures, including cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing processes.
