About The Position

The Barista prepares and serves high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and other beverages while providing outstanding customer service. The role helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and supports smooth café or coffee bar operations. The position is part-time at Smith Tower, with an hourly pay range of $21.30 to $21.50, depending on experience, and eligibility for tip pooling.

Requirements

Prior café, coffee, or food and beverage experience is required.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.
Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems for order taking and cash handling.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

Barista certification or completion of formal coffee/espresso training is preferred.
Knowledge of coffee preparation, brewing techniques, and beverage presentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, tea, and other beverages according to company standards.
Greet guests, take orders, and recommend products.
Operate coffee and espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including beverage stations, counters, and dining areas.
Handle cash, credit, and digital payment transactions accurately.
Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to management.
Restock coffee bar and serving stations with amenities such as lids, straws, and napkins.
Follow food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
May assist with training new team members and support co-workers during peak periods.
Address guest questions, concerns, and special requests promptly and professionally.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
