About The Position

The Barista provides exceptional customer service while preparing hand-crafted beverages to customer specifications. The role takes orders, prepares coffee, tea, and other drinks, operates cash registers and credit card machines, and addresses customer questions or complaints while supporting good customer relations and prompt service. The position also helps maintain attractive, clean, and sanitary coffee bar or cart areas; follows food safety, workplace safety, and department policies; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Starbucks Barista Certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment for Starbucks Baristas.

Two years of barista experience at Starbucks or in a food service setting.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, take orders, and prepare and serve hot and cold beverages to customer specifications; may sell food items.
Maintain good customer relations and provide prompt delivery of beverages and food items.
Arrange coffee bar or cart supplies and cups or mugs for attractive displays, and keep the area neat and sanitary.
Clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas.
Record sales, collect money, operate cash registers and electronic payment equipment, and follow cash-handling procedures.
Attend allergy and foodborne illness training, safety meetings, safety training, hazard assessments, and other designated training programs.
May receive inventory and move or lift foodstuffs and supplies.
Follow company safety and risk-management policies and procedures, and report accidents and injuries promptly.
Follow City of Hope and department policies and procedures, including performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, infection control, Code of Conduct, and Compliance Plan requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
