About The Position

The Barback provides servers and guests with a clean, stocked bar area. The role maintains bar cleanliness and sanitation, replenishes supplies, assists with beverage service, and supports positive guest relations. It also requires following responsible alcohol beverage service policies and established venue procedures.

Requirements

• County of San Diego Food Handler Card.
• California ABC Responsible Beverage Service Certification.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Ability to work effectively with team members and guests.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure.
• Ability to understand verbal directives and written instructions.
• Ability to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to perform basic data entry.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours at a time.
• Ability to bend, stoop, push and pull.
• Ability to work in a smoking environment.
• Ability to appear for work on time.

Responsibilities

• Clean bar and counter surfaces, empty ashtrays, clean cups, glasses and utensils, sweep floors, transport bus tubs to the dishwashing station, and dispose of trash as needed.
• Stock the bar by putting away delivered water, bar supplies, ice, cups, glasses and condiments in appropriate areas.
• Chop and slice garnishes, and clean coffee machines, soda dispensers, beer dispensers, ice bins, sinks, dishwasher, shelves and counters according to established procedures.
• Acknowledge and welcome guests entering the bar, assist the bartender with taking beverage orders, deliver requested beverages, and respond to guest requests.
• Provide current information about sports events, promotional contests and giveaways; offer assistance and product knowledge; and treat guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Follow responsible alcohol service policies, including asking for identification from guests who appear under 30, monitoring consumption, preventing service to intoxicated guests according to established procedures, stopping alcohol service at the designated time, and clearing alcoholic containers, glasses and bottles from each venue at the specified time.
