About The Position

Local Edition is a subterranean cocktail bar beneath Market Street in the historic Hearst Building, with décor inspired by the newspaper business of the 1950s and 1960s. The Barback supports bartenders and daily bar service, maintains cleanliness and organization, prepares cocktail ingredients, and keeps bar stock supplied. Applicants with restaurant, bar, or hotel experience are welcome, as are people eager to learn. Typical hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 3:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.; the role is listed for Thursday through Saturday.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Basic math skills, or ability to use a calculator and understand proportions.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Have or be willing to obtain a California Food Handler’s Certification and required RBS training.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the restaurant, bar, or hotel industries; applicants eager to learn are also welcome.

Responsibilities

• Assist bartenders with daily service.
• Maintain overall bar cleanliness.
• Prepare batches and other cocktail ingredients.
• Wash and organize glassware.
• Retrieve bar stock and maintain adequate levels.
• Clean as part of opening and closing duties.
