About The Position

Cheba Hut has been curing munchies since 1998, blending great food, craft drinks, and a laid-back counter-culture vibe. You’re not just mixing drinks. You’re building regulars. As a Bar Manager, you’ll create a unique bar experience that aligns with Cheba Hut culture and Core Values. You’ll uphold bar standards, follow alcohol laws, and bring a positive, inclusive attitude to every shift. We serve approachable craft cocktails and local beer. This role reports to the General Manager. You think shop first. You give a damn. You take pride in your bar.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of bartender and bar lead experience
  • Alcohol training certification
  • Demonstrate integrity and self-direction
  • Available to work at least 3-4 weekday shifts per week
  • Ability to lift 159lbs (weight of a full ½ barrel keg) – ask for assistance when needed
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and effectively prioritize numerous projects at one time
  • Must be comfortable with marijuana themed culture

Responsibilities

  • Create a unique and enjoyable environment every shift
  • Prioritize “interaction over the transaction.”
  • Recommend signature cocktails, craft beers, and food menu items
  • Deliver efficient service at the bar, lobby, and patio
  • Build loyal guests through genuine engagement
  • Complete bar inventory, including counting product, assessing COGS, adjusting product pricing, identifying missing product and areas of opportunities
  • Ensure all product orders are placed before cut-off times
  • Responsible for meeting liquor, beer, and wine cost benchmarks
  • Awareness and accountability regarding theft, discounts, and order accuracy
  • Strong understanding of Cheba Hut mandated products and development of strong product offering, optimizing sales and profitability
  • Maintain relationships with bar reps
  • Collaborate with shop leadership, vendors, and partners to establish regular bar events and marketing initiatives
  • Manage event calendar, promote events and ensure proper system support
  • Ensure customer experiences are exceptional and consistent
  • Identify industry trends and sought after products, such as popular local beers
  • Awareness of peak and slow seasons to implement diverse initiatives to cater to both sales volumes
  • Uphold all local and national alcohol laws
  • Verify IDs and enforce alcohol service policies; ensure bar crew is doing the same
  • Monitor guest consumption and act responsibly
  • Maintain strong situational awareness
  • Take every available opportunity to coach, develop, and reinforce great habits
  • Responsible for facilitation of monthly bar meetings
  • Conduct new hire interviews in conjunction with the GM
  • Hold bartenders accountable to defined responsibilities, processes, procedures, and administer disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Ensure the line is getting the proper bar support needed to sustain day to day operations (Shagging baskets, lobby love, cleaning tabletops/bar tops, etc.)
