About The Position

The Westin Tempe is looking for an On-Call Banquet Server to join their Banquet Team. A Banquet Server takes part in servicing guests around the hotel and is part of a team passionate about delivering exceptional service. This role requires a friendly, courteous, timely, and professional manner to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction. Banquet Servers participate in the set-up, decoration, service, and breakdown of food and beverage requirements in functions within the Banquet meeting room, adhering to BEO and both Crescent and Westin Tempe standards. They are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, repair, and safety of equipment and areas used in their duties.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate in English.
• Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
• Ability to communicate well with guests.
• Willingness to "pitch-in" and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
• Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.
• Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
• Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker.
• Must remain professional at all times, and treat all guests and associates with courtesy and respect, under all circumstances.
• Adaptability to change in work area and hotel procedures.
• Willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones.
• Ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job.
• Ability to ask for help whenever unsure how to do something.

Responsibilities

• Greeting guests, providing prompt and courteous service, and checking guests out at the end of their stay.
• Participating in the set-up, decoration, delivery of service, and breakdown of food and beverage requirements in functions the Banquet meeting room.
• Maintaining the cleanliness, repair, and safety of the equipment and areas used in the scope of their duties.
• Ensuring all tasks are handled in a friendly, courteous, timely, and professional manner.
• Adhering to hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
