About The Position

The Banquet Porter position is generally responsible for setting up, cleaning, and maintaining function space, service areas, and storerooms in an organized and safe manner. This role involves greeting and interacting with guests courteously, practicing hotel security standards, setting up function rooms to specifications, and servicing meeting rooms during breaks. The position requires maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness, ensuring banquet service areas are clean, orderly, and stocked at the end of the shift.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and public relations skills
• Able to read and communicate effectively in English
• Must possess a positive attitude and be able to work independently or as part of a team
• Basic reading, writing, math skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to lift 20-40lbs, push 50-100lbs, carry up to 50lbs
• Must be able to bend, kneel, maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests, and stand for long periods of time
• Must be effective at listening and understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by guests
• Must be effective in handling guest concerns, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
• Hours fluctuate: days, evenings, overnights, weekend and holiday availability is required

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with all guests in a courteous manner, delivering the highest degree of guest service at all times.
• Practice hotel security standards to protect guest’s privacy and belongings.
• Set up function rooms to the guest’s specifications and the property standards.
• Understand and carry out duties according to the banquet event order and instruction provided for each function.
• Service meeting rooms during function breaks.
• Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas.
• Ensure banquet service areas are clean, orderly and stocked at end of the shift.
