This role adheres to hotel specifications and standards in function room set-up and cleanliness. It requires understanding guest needs and set up requirements, with the ability to prioritize, organize, follow through, and adapt to priority changes. The Banquet Houseman must be able to perform job functions with minimal supervision and work cohesively with other departments and coworkers as part of a team. This position requires complete knowledge of daily scheduled group functions, hotel function space, room names, meeting and banquet room settings, equipment maintenance and use, departmental/hotel policies and procedures, and safety guidelines. The role also involves using correct cleaning chemicals, reviewing assignment sheets, organizing work duties, retrieving and stocking linen, stocking supply carts, inspecting set rooms and equipment, and setting up rooms and function areas according to group requirements and departmental standards.

  • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
  • Review assignment sheets with supervisor; update completed assignments
  • Check with Supervisor throughout shift for additional assignments
  • Organize work duties priorities
  • Retrieve clean linen and skirting from laundry and stock in storage areas
  • Stock and organize supply carts with designated materials and equipment. Transport to assigned function area
  • Inspect set rooms for cleanliness and agreement to group requirements; rectify any deficiencies
  • Inspect cleanliness and working conditions of all equipment and supplies to be set up in the function area; rectify any deficiencies
  • Set up rooms and function areas with designated tables, chairs, staging, dance floor, flipcharts, easels, blackboards, and other equipment as specified by group requirements and in accordance with departmental standards
