About The Position

Dallas Country Club is currently seeking qualified individuals for the Banquet Captain position to support the Banquets Manager in servicing members, guests, and wedding coordinators/planners. The ideal candidate must possess excellent verbal communication skills, the ability to lead and follow direction, and be a motivated, highly organized, and visible team player. This role requires resourcefulness and anticipation in resolving member and guest needs. The Banquet Captain will oversee banquet staff for scheduled events, manage bar inventories, and perform daily opening and closing tasks.

Requirements

  • Three years minimum experience in a higher volume supervisory banquet role, preferably in a club or hotel setting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • TABC certified required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Comprehend reading materials, speak, read and write English.
  • Neat in appearance and well groomed.
  • Demonstrate an approachable and professional demeanor.
  • Strong delegation skills.
  • Maintain proper associate uniform standards.
  • Ability to manage a large banquet team with multiple occurring functions.
  • Must have Wine & Bar service knowledge.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or equivalent preferred.
  • A working knowledge of ala carte and fine dining outlets is beneficial.
  • General audiovisual knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely in planning with the Banquets Manager and staff.
  • Work closely with Banquet Chef & Culinary team for event setup & execution.
  • Coordinate room set ups based on Banquet Event Order and Member needs.
  • Walk all banquet areas at the beginning of their shift and complete set up prior to host arrival.
  • Monitor pre-function interior/exterior space for cleanliness.
  • Understand how to read and execute a Banquet Event Order.
  • Ensure all meeting rooms are set accordingly to the BEO’s and are always clean and tidy.
  • Provide a daily recap of all event information to the Assistant GM and Food and Beverage team.
  • Ensure all staff arrive on time and are in proper uniform based on the event.
  • Plan, delegate, and deliver top-level service to all banquet functions.
  • Manage beverage requisitions for bars.
  • Ensure the entire banquet service team is knowledgeable of all event information (BEO).
  • Communicate effectively with Event Management, Members, Guests, Banquet Chef, and Front of House Management/Supervisor team on all Banquet needs.
  • Cover dining room MOD shifts during slower periods.
  • Ensure superior service and sanitation standards by detailing and presenting all rooms and table top utensils prior to every function.
  • Make sure all equipment is in working order for the department.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible work environment.
