About The Position

As a Banquet Bartender at Sonesta International Hotels, you will provide beverage service at weddings, meetings, celebrations, and other special events. You will create a welcoming guest experience by preparing and serving beverages, maintaining banquet bars, and working with event and food-and-beverage teams to support smooth event execution. The role suits someone who enjoys guest interaction and can work effectively in a fast-paced event environment.

The position includes setting up and breaking down bars, reviewing event details, preparing beverages to recipes and standards, managing payments and beverage documentation, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation, replenishing supplies, and following responsible alcohol-service and hotel procedures. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and responsible alcohol-service practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Experience using POS systems and accurately handling cash transactions.
• Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and presentation standards.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event support as needed.
• Passion for hospitality, teamwork, guest experience, and memorable food-and-beverage experiences.

Nice To Haves

• Previous bartending, restaurant, hotel, lounge, nightlife, or hospitality experience.
• TIPS Certification, Food Handler Certification, or alcohol-service certification where required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and break down banquet bars according to event requirements, banquet event orders, and hotel standards.
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes, brand standards, and guest preferences.
• Engage with guests, make recommendations, and provide welcoming, exceptional service.
• Review banquet event orders and function details, including bar setup, beverage selections, guest counts, timing, and special requests.
• Maintain knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and event beverage offerings.
• Work efficiently during high-volume events, including weddings, meetings, receptions, and celebrations.
• Track beverage consumption, process payments, manage hosted or cash bars, and complete required event documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, presentation, and sanitation standards in banquet bar and service areas.
• Assist with glassware, garnishes, ice, inventory, stock replenishment, portable bar setup, and opening and closing duties.
• Follow food safety guidelines, responsible alcohol-service standards, and hotel procedures.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and address concerns professionally and promptly.
• Coordinate with Banquet Servers, Event teams, Culinary teams, and Food & Beverage leadership to support event execution.
• Support upselling opportunities and beverage programs that enhance guest experience and event revenue.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
