Bankruptcy Litigation Associate, U.S. offices
About The Position
Kobre & Kim is seeking a bankruptcy litigation lawyer for its U.S. offices to work on high-stakes restructuring/bankruptcy and other debtor-creditor disputes, often with a cross-border element. The role involves representing debtors, creditors, committees, foreign insolvency representatives, and other stakeholders in insolvency-related disputes and investigations, frequently as special litigation counsel in Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 proceedings. The position will also encompass creditor-debtor disputes and creditor remedies both inside and outside of bankruptcy court, with an emphasis on international asset recovery and judgment enforcement engagements. The firm emphasizes a unique approach to legal strategy, problem-solving, and client service, focusing on addressing the client's entire problem with innovative and aggressive legal solutions.
Requirements
- Graduated law school between 2023 - 2020
- Juris Doctorate Degree
- Strong litigation skills (e.g., extensive brief writing, discovery, and deposition experience)
- Focus on disputes involving distressed companies
- Interest in cross-border work
- Robust writing, drafting and editing skills

Responsibilities
- Work on high-stakes restructuring/bankruptcy and other debtor-creditor disputes, often with a cross-border element.
- Handle multinational bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
- Represent debtors, creditors, committees, foreign insolvency representatives, and other stakeholders in insolvency-related disputes and investigations.
- Serve as special litigation counsel in Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 proceedings.
- Engage in creditor-debtor disputes and creditor remedies both inside and outside of bankruptcy court.
- Utilize insolvency and restructuring tools to craft unique strategies for international asset recovery and judgment enforcement engagements.
- Collaborate on cross-border teams for matters involving criminal defense and regulatory enforcement; internal investigations; civil and commercial litigation; class actions; judgment enforcement and asset recovery; and financial products and services disputes.
- Develop and implement unconventional legal strategies.
- Address the client’s entire problem, not just the legal aspects.
- Think one step ahead to anticipate client needs.
