About The Position

The Banking Core Technology Manager is expected to be adept at managing employees and teams who are charged with oversight of complex systems at the core of the bank’s operations. The Banking Core Technology Manager will also play a key role in supporting current and emerging RPA and AI tools; technology projects; vendor management, including contract negotiation; execution of procedures and standards related to the complete lifecycle of the technologies assigned; and risk management.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 7+ years of related and relevant employment experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Prior supervisory/management experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytic abilities.
  • Strong documentation skills, to include proficiency with MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-Visio.
  • Experience working successfully with third-parties in the course of troubleshooting or business-as-usual.
  • The desire and ability to maintain knowledge and skill currency within the fast-changing technological realm.
  • The ability to successfully lead team endeavors.
  • The ability to provide effective coaching, training and mentoring for other members of the Bank’s IT team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Business and management experience and graduate degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with Jack Henry Silverlake and IBM iSeries is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the team provides outstanding customer service, partnering with and supporting internal customers.
  • Ensures that the team keeps systems up to date.
  • Ensures that the team maintains proper maintenance contracts and procedures.
  • Ensures the reliability of systems.
  • Monitors system and application alerts, responding as needed to resolve outages and issues.
  • Assists with the design, testing and implementation of new systems and applications.
  • Continues learning to stay current with new technology and applications.
  • Provides project management leadership for technical initiatives, as needed.
  • Supports, fulfills and responds to Audit requests and findings.
  • Maintains and develops relevant vendor relationships.
  • Facilitates the day-to-day relationship with Jack Henry for core banking systems.
  • Leads and participates in the development of Bank IT policies, procedures and process.
  • Develops and maintains Bank IT best practices in accordance with business needs and industry recommendations.
  • Provides IT leadership in Disaster Recovery/ Business Continuity exercises.
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships.
  • Encourages innovation and experimentation with automation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Management of assigned personnel.

  • Finds and retains key employees.
  • Implements staffing and scheduling models to ensure adequate coverage to the bank.
  • Makes or recommends action for subordinates regarding employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary recommendations, transfers and terminations.
  • Resolves or escalates general personnel problems.
  • Coordinates activities with the other teams within IT, and with other departments across the Bank.
  • Ensures proper change control procedures are followed by employees.
  • Trains and guides team to effectively use established IT processes and procedures in the course of their work.
  • Enhances processes and procedures to increase efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Assists in ensuring that the Bank complies with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Adheres to applicable Bank policies, processes and procedures.
  • Operates within the change control framework as it pertains to IT operations.
