About The Position

The role involves providing one-to-one support to individuals in their own flats, catering to varied needs and ages (57-80 years old). Support is tailored to individual mobility levels, including those who are independently mobile, use a 4-wheeled rollator, or a wheelchair. The individuals supported have diverse challenges such as hearing problems, autism, cerebral palsy, schizo-affective disorder, and Asperger's. The staff team is trained to address these challenges and improve the lives of the individuals they support. Activities can range from shopping and social outings to bowling or movies, with occasional group activities like BBQs or parties. Support hours are varied, including 9am-2pm, 8:30am-4pm, 9:30am-7:30pm, and sleepover shifts (7am-9am following an 11pm-7am sleepover). Staffing levels vary from four in the morning to two in the evening, and one for sleepovers.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience in a support worker or care assistant role.
  • Lived experience of supporting individuals with disabilities or older relatives.
  • No prior experience required, as the organization values individuals' values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support to individuals in their own flats.
  • Assist individuals with varying mobility levels, including those who use wheelchairs or rollators.
  • Support individuals with diverse challenges such as hearing problems, autism, cerebral palsy, schizo-affective disorder, and Asperger's.
  • Engage individuals in activities they enjoy, such as shopping, social outings, bowling, or movies.
  • Facilitate group activities like BBQs or parties.
  • Ensure support is provided based on the principles of choice, dignity, and respect.
  • Work collaboratively with the staff team to improve the lives of the individuals supported.
  • Provide support during varied hours, including day shifts and sleepover shifts.
