Baler/Battery Operator, China Grove - Full Time
About The Position
The Baler/Battery Operator processes trash and recycling according to local standards and provides intermittent support for Operations throughout the day. The role includes inspecting, sorting, and baling waste cardboard and plastic; maintaining balers, compactors, and the dock area; performing general housekeeping; basic maintenance and changing of material handling equipment (MHE) batteries; and operating and maintaining the sweeper. Other duties may be assigned. The position requires dependable attendance and punctuality, and a commitment to fostering acceptance and respect among colleagues, customers, and communities.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is encouraged, but not stated as required.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interface with colleagues.
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to read and understand employment policies and safety rules and procedures in English.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a sense of urgency.
- Attention to detail and effective organizational skills.
- Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a team.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store or company needs.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking; occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching; and close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, sort, and bale waste cardboard and plastic.
- Keep balers and compactors clear of accumulated trash to prevent malfunctions.
- Maintain the dock area surrounding the baler.
- Perform general housekeeping duties.
- Perform basic maintenance and change MHE batteries.
- Operate, clean, and perform general maintenance on the sweeper daily.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Foster acceptance and respect and strengthen relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
