About The Position

The Baler/Battery Operator processes trash and recycling according to local standards and performs intermittent duties in support of Operations throughout the day. The role includes inspecting, sorting, and baling waste cardboard and plastic; maintaining the balers, compactor, and dock area; general housekeeping; basic maintenance and changing of material-handling-equipment (MHE) batteries; and daily operation and general maintenance and cleaning of the sweeper. Other duties may be assigned. Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are required.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues.
• Ability to understand and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Ability to read and understand employment policies and safety rules and procedures in English.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, sort, and bale all waste cardboard and plastic.
• Keep balers and the compactor clear of trash that could build up and cause a malfunction.
• Maintain the dock area surrounding the baler.
• Perform general housekeeping duties.
• Perform basic maintenance and change MHE batteries.
• Operate, maintain, and clean the sweeper daily.
• Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
