About The Position

The Bakery Sales Associate sells Harmons’ fresh bakery items by providing remarkable customer service and educating customers about products so they can choose items suited to their needs. The role includes packaging and labeling products, filling shelves and cases, preparing products for the next day, and proofing and baking items. The associate helps maintain product quality, freshness, assortment, inventory, pricing, signage, and department cleanliness. They assist with cake and special orders, restock deliveries, reduce waste through production sheets and product rotation, and support managers, bakers, cake decorators, and artisan bakers as needed. The position involves daily interaction with customers and store associates.

Requirements

Any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to operate machinery including a label machine, oven, and proof box.
Current Food Handler’s Permit.
Enjoy working with and handling bakery products.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
Strong organization and planning skills.
Solid verbal and listening communication skills for effective communication with customers and fellow associates.
Ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for individual and team success.

Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Follow established departmental and store policies and procedures.
Ensure the quality and freshness of Bakery products and services.
Maintain appropriate product assortment and inventory levels.
Confirm pricing accuracy and signage, with particular attention to advertised items.
Clean and sanitize the Bakery daily and maintain company appearance standards.
Assist customers with cake and special orders and provide excellent customer service.
Wash and put away bowls, pans, and baking trays.
Package and label Bakery products accurately.
Fill shelves and cases with product and restock the department.
Sort and put away Bakery products when deliveries arrive.
Minimize waste by following production sheets, monitoring code dates, and rotating items appropriately.
Assist managers, bakers, cake decorators, and artisan bakers as needed.
Mix and scoop cookies.
Proof and bake items.
Write on cakes for customers.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
