About The Position

As a member of SpartanNash, a food solutions company within the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, the Bakery Production Associate works independently to bake, fry, decorate, package, display, and stock bakery products. The role supports the shift’s financial best interest and includes completing other assigned duties in a timely manner. Baking and frying work is determined by the production schedule and accounts for approximately 80% of the position’s time. The associate prices, dates, wraps, and bags bakery products; maintains and merchandises shelves, cases, and displays; helps receive and stock merchandise; and notifies the Bakery Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered. The position requires familiarity with bakery products and their prices, tastes, preparation, and uses, as well as handling spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines. The associate maintains a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department and follows PPE, safety, food safety, cleaning, and guest experience guidelines. Duties in other departments may be assigned to meet customer experience needs. The job is based at 3015 W US Highway 36, Pendleton, Indiana 46064. The work environment is a typical retail store with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise is usually low to moderate, and travel requirements vary by assignment. The associate may need to lift or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, and must stand and walk for extended periods and may bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Bake and fry products according to the production schedule.
Decorate, package, price, date, wrap, and/or bag bakery products.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise bakery shelves, cases, and displays.
Notify the Bakery Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines, food safety and cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer experience needs.
Complete additional assigned responsibilities in a timely manner.
