About The Position

As a member of the SpartanNash team, the Bakery Production Associate works independently to bake, fry, decorate, package, display, and stock bakery products. The role helps ensure the shift contributes to the store’s financial best interest and completes other assigned duties in a timely manner. Baking and frying duties are determined by the production schedule and make up approximately 80% of the time. The associate may also be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.

The position is based at 3015 W US Highway 36, Pendleton, Indiana 46064. Work takes place in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Bake and fry products according to the production schedule.
• Price, date, wrap, and/or bag bakery products.
• Fill, rotate, and merchandise bakery shelves, cases, and displays.
• Notify the Bakery Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise.
• Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
• Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
• Follow PPE and safety guidelines, food safety and cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
• Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer experience needs.
• Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
